Keady's Cottage situated close to Spiddal Village and Beach. The ideal location for a relaxing holiday. This quaint two bedroom cottage is the ideal base for touring Connemara and we can arrange tours to Connemara and Kylemore Abbey or maybe take off to the edge and visit the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.

The cottage is located in an idyllic location overlooking Boluisce Lake

An Spidéal, or Spiddal as it's called in English, is a small seaside village on the West coast of Ireland. Located just 12 miles West of Galway city An Spidéal is a vibrant friendly town where the people speak both Irish and English. Indeed if you visit during the summer months you will probably notice groups of teenagers who come to the village for 3 week courses to learn Irish. The signposts are all in the Irish language and you will hear it spoken in the shops, pubs and restaurants. Most people will be more than happy to teach you a couple of words if you ask.

The village is really on the Eastern boundary of the region called Connemara and as such is a good starting point for your journey into this unique part of Ireland rich in tradition and spectacular raw beauty only found in this area.

In terms of restaurants you can choose from The Cruiscin Lan Hotel, The Bridge House hotel or the Boluisce Restaurant all located in the village itself or Jackie's Bistro located behind the Craft Centre. There also Padraigin's restaurant and bar by the beach in Furbo 3 mile East and Donnelly's or The Twelve in Barna village 7 miles East on the way to Galway. A little further away, just past Moycullen we have The White Gables, which is a fine restaurant.

The town itself has 2 shops one with a petrol station. You will find most of what you need in terms of food and provisions in these shops and there are also supermarkets in Galway city and another one 3 miles West of the village called Siopa an Phobal. There are also a number of pubs in the town with Hughes being our favourite (take a right at the bank). On most weekend nights and sometimes during the week in summer time you will hear live traditional Irish music being played in the pubs.

In terms of restaurants you can choose from The Cruiscin Lan Hotel or The  Boluisce Restaurant all located in the village itself or Jackie's Bistro located behind the Craft Centre.

The Village itself - Take a walk around the village itself. Try out the different bars during the day and maybe have a relaxing lunch in one of the restaurants. At night the bars come alive with the busiest time from 22:00 to 00:30 which is closing time. Don't confine yourself to just one bar. Try them all as they are each different.

The Prom Beach - This beach is just East of the village on the Galway road. You can't miss it. If the weather is hot it can get very busy particularly at weekends so get there early. This beach constantly get the European Blue flag for good water quality. There are 2 small streams running down the beach which they advise against drinking the water. It's safe for swimming provided the sea is not rough as there are no dangerous currents and there is a lifeguard on duty during the summer months. Whether the weather is good or not take a walk along the beach and shore line. The children love this walk with all of the unusual stones and interesting rock pools. You can walk West along the shore as far as the old pier or the new pier if you are willing to wade across the river.
